How do you do? It is easy to tell by that gleam in the eyes who the newcomers to town are. They are all looking to strike it rich but have no idea what to do in a place like this. Our lawmen are here to show you the ropes around our fair city.

A Deadwood Experiential Peregrination
In the summer of 1875, there was no one in this here gulch… not a soul. In fact, there was nothing here but 3 creeks coming together and a tangle of old dead twisted wood. That’s where it got its name, Deadwood Gulch.
In the late fall of 1875, everything changed, gold was discovered in Whitewood creek. It didn’t take long for the word to get out and by the summer of 1876, there were thousands of people in the valley. There were tents and shacks everywhere, hordes of men just trying to find their fortune and make their way.
As you can imagine, with thousands of men in a tight space, trying to get one up on the other guy, trouble soon started and there became a desperate need for lawmen. The likes of Con Stapleton, Seth Bullock , John Manning and even Wyatt Earp came to town. Earp went into the firewood business as the others did their best to clean up the town.
Your frontier lawman will show you the ropes around Deadwood city with the intention of telling you “greenhorns” a little bit about the town and get y’all prepared so you don’t get taken advantage of, but mainly not “get dead”.
